Hello World! I've moved from Evernote to nothing. OK. It is a little more complicated than that, but not as difficult as you might think, especially if you are on a Mac. www.christopher-mayo.com/?p=2033

Hi GM!
Good to see you here! I have learned a great deal from your website and truly appreciate your candid and detailed sharing of knowledge. I looked into DevonThnk and other various products you mentioned there. In some ways they are overkill and others, missing a feature or two I would find helpful.
Having said that, I have started using EagleFiler, primarily due to the way it manages my files, to wit; similar to OSX & Spotlight, with additional features similar to what we are accustomed to with EN. Keeping my files out of a "locked in" filing format and export format restricted in nature to xml, html, etc, I believe will prevent me from finding myself in the near future in the same predicament I was in with EN.
However, I would love to marry both worlds, if you will, by having the features of Sharing Notebooks, etc that EN offers, with the natural file system offered by EagleFiler. This is the direction in which I will be moving. Although it works, but clumsily, Dropbox and other like services allows for File/Folder Sharing, it does not have the same features EN's Notebook Sharing offers. So, If you have any suggestions in this regard, I would greatly appreciate your wisdom.
I have some specific workflow needs I prefer not to share in a public forum, so if email or PM is okay with you, I would greatly appreciate that opportunity of communication. Your work interests me as well, and I have some questions about it I would like to ask, if you are willing to share.
Respectfully, Sentinel

Hi! Welcome to the new forum. Glad I could help out I've heard great things about EF. I tried it and liked it well enough. However, there is no iOS app, so it was a non-starter for me. In the end, I keep circling back to Spotlight, smart folders, and tags. It's all there in the Mac already, and EF didn't really improve on that for me. My problem, at the moment, is that nothing on iOS is satisfying, especially in terms of security. DT works, but only just barely, and today I somehow have a two page PDF freezing the app in an endless loop. It's just not reliable. VoodooPad is so very close to being excellent -- it is the only notetaking app with encryption. Alas, its iOS app stinks. They promise they are working on things, but nearly a year later, I'm not holding my breath. It may be that I just have to give up on iOS. It isn't worth the headaches. I'm still toying with the idea of a remote login approach (I used to do that), but I still haven't resigned myself to it yet. It requires a computer in the office on all the time and Internet access all the time. On top of that, the interface is clumsy on the iPad -- it works fine, but certainly not great. So, I find myself again and again taking the MBP 15" out the door with me. It does everything, but it is a little bulky. I suppose it's the way I'll end up going. Sharing notebooks? Usually, Google Drive comes up in discussions about collaboration. I guess I'd need to know more. PM me anytime.
